WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives passed 12 bills to support and honor veterans. Eight of these bills will rename Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities to honor the service and lives of veterans. The House also passed bills which reaffirm the Committee’s dedication to improving the quality of care at VA, including ensuring that the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) can continue to conduct top-tier research to provide veterans with the best, scientifically-driven care, and that the privacy and security of veterans’ personal information remains a top priority.

“Last week, our country marked Veterans Day by saying ‘thank you’ to those who have served.” said Chairman Takano. “Today, I am heartened by my colleagues who, as they have done all throughout the 117th Congress, backed up their words with action and voted for bills that will honor the service and sacrifice of veterans, protect veterans' personal information, and ensure every veteran receives the highest quality healthcare and benefits that they’ve earned. I am especially thankful that the House voted to pass my VIPER Act, a bill which will ensure VA can continue to be competitive in hiring the finest scientists so that VA may continue its excellent research efforts to understand, prevent, and treat the health challenges veterans face. We continue to honor the contributions and sacrifices that veterans make for our nation through these legislative efforts.”
